Websense Endpoint Client install error: Please reboot your computer before install!
Forcepoint (Endpoint) Monday, 22 July 2013 by paul

The error is displayed when installing the Websense Endpoint Client for Websense Triton Cloud Security. Rebooting does not help.

1.  Open Registry Editor ( Start > Run > regedit) and check if the following registry key exists. If found, remove the key.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SOFTWARE\Websense\Agent\

If the above registry key does not exist, then go to step 5.

2.  Browse to the registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\

3.  Check the value:

PendingFileRenameOperations

If the strings value of PendingFileRenameOperations contain QIPCAP.dll or QIPCAP64.dll remove PendingFileRenameOperations

4.  Reboot.

5.  Remove registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\QIP

6.  Reboot.

7.  Install the Endpoint Client.

The client will then install and work.

Cheers Paul Many a time I have fought the endpoint. On this occasion I was thwarted, thanks to your QIP key removal step I am victorious once more. Many thanks Dave
